Black Desert Resort

Surrounded by red rock mountains and carved amid ancient black lava fields, Black Desert Resort opened for play in May of 2023 and is the last golf course designed by the great Tom Weiskopf prior to his passing away from pancreatic cancer in August of 2022. The course is characterized by the presence of ancient basalt rock formations seamlessly integrated into the landscape, creating a visually stunning contrast against the lush green fairways.
To respond to high demand by golfers traveling from near and far to play - the Black Desert Resort operations team needed to find the right modern, innovative, and reliable software partners to power an elevated booking experience. Ranked as the #1 public course in Utah, Black Desert Resort played host for the PGA TOUR in the inaugural Black Desert Championship in October 2024 as the Tour returned to Utah for the first time since 1963.
After a long search, the Black Desert team aligned on the combination of Lightspeed as the POS and booking engine, along with Noteefy as the automated tee time booking assistant.
Through Noteefy, the leading automated tee time booking assistant in the golf industry, Black Desert Resort can maximize tee time utilization at the course, while assisting golfers as they make reservations. The combination of Lightspeed and Noteefy provides an intuitive, modern experience.
Using real-time alerts, Black Desert golfers will be notified via text and email when tee times become available based on their personalized preferences including—day, time and number of players. The golfers book directly in Lightspeed and the service are available to all golfers at no cost.
“Our collaboration is reinventing the tee time booking process at Black Desert, while also setting a standard of accessibility for other top-tier courses across the country. Guests no longer have to commit themselves to manually searching for tee times and making inquiries through phone calls. They can devote all their time and effort to their game and the course.
NOTEEFY & LIGHTSPEED DELIVERED IMMEDIATE RESULTS WITH A SEAMLESS IMPLEMENTATION
Due to the tight technical integration to Lightspeed, delivered a revenue and customer experience enhancement out the gate. Golfers who don’t see availability are invited to sign up for our “New Virtual Tee Time Assistant and be alerted as soon as a tee time becomes available!” This automated system ensured that Black Desert Resort could instantly fill spots that would have otherwise gone unbooked. The result? A streamlined process that increased revenue and significantly reduced the volume of calls on the pro shop staff. With golf staffers fielding fewer phone calls, it freed them up to engage more with customers.
OVER $200,000 TOTAL REVENUE CAPTURED, INCLUDING $100,000+ INSIDE OF 48 HOURS WITH NOTEEFY
After integrating Noteefy into the Lightspeed system, the results were immediate. Thousands of golfers loved the convenience of being notified when a tee time opened up, and the course quickly started capturing previously lost revenue. Over 770 tee times were successfully generated from Noteefy rebooking a cancellation or tee time being released. 100% of the revenue went back to Black Desert Resort. The ability to instantly match available tee times with eager players has resulted in a significant financial boost to fund other new and exciting projects.
