Duntroon Highlands Resort

The Club
Duntroon Highlands Resort sits on the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, just south of Collingwood and The Blue Mountains in Ontario. It's home to Ontario's highest golf course, a par 71 parkland layout voted the #1 public golf course near Collingwood and Blue Mountain three years in a row. Alongside golf, Duntroon runs a Pro Shop, a farm-inspired Café, a full events and tournament calendar, company retreats, pickleball, and trails that connect to the Bruce Trail. It's the kind of multi-revenue operation where no single data system shows the whole picture.
The Challenge
Duntroon took its numbers seriously, maintaining a performance dashboard for management. The problem was that compiling the data and updating the dashboard took two to three hours, so it only got a monthly review. “Producing that dashboard required going into multiple systems, pulling data, comparing results... and then turning it all into an insightful one-page summary,” said Martin Rydlo, President of Duntroon Highlands Resort. Comparing results to plan and to last year was done by hand, and the effort discouraged the team from checking key metrics more often.
The Solution
Starting from Duntroon's KPIs and targets, the Noteefy Insights dashboard was built around management's existing process. “They guided us through the dashboard customization process, helped us refine which metrics were most important, and worked with us to incorporate our month-by-month targets,” said Rydlo. “Rather than simply giving us another reporting tool, they helped us build a dashboard around the way we actually manage our business.”
The Results
Data from multiple systems now feeds one dashboard, bringing golf, retail, and food and beverage into one central reporting location, each measured against its target and prior period. With the manual report-building removed, management no longer waits each month for updated data: each leader can log on, see a real-time performance snapshot, and spot opportunities sooner. The hours that used to go into curating the monthly report now go back into running the resort, not crunching numbers.
It has saved management time, improved access to information and helped us make more timely, data-driven decisions across multiple revenue channels.
