The Club

Essex County Parks operates three public 18-hole golf courses in Essex County, New Jersey: Francis A. Byrne Golf Course, Hendricks Field Golf Course, and Weequahic Golf Course. As a county-run multi-course operation, Essex County serves one of the most active and densely populated golfer bases in the Northeast, with demand across all three properties that consistently outpaces available inventory.

‍The Challenge: Cancellations Were Slipping Through, and Nobody Had Time to Chase Them

Despite excess demand, beneath the surface, a real revenue problem was quietly compounding. When tee times were canceled, especially inside 24 to 48 hours, there was no active system to find a replacement. The work of connecting an open slot to a willing golfer simply was not getting done, not because demand was absent, but because the mechanism to act on it did not exist.

For Essex, the revenue numbers matter, but they are not the whole story. Essex County is a public operation, so demonstrating value up the chain matters as much as the bottom line.
